Pourquoi choisir du cuir végétal ? Un choix responsable et esthétique

Why choose vegetable leather? A responsible and aesthetic choice

Why choose vegetable leather?

Vegetable-tanned leather is one of the finest and most durable materials in leather goods. At Ginès Atelier, it's our preferred material. Here's why.

1. Natural tanning

Unlike chrome leather, vegetable tanned leather is tanned with plant extracts (bark, leaves, roots). It's an ancestral method, slower, but much more environmentally friendly.

2. A living matter

Vegetable tanned leather develops a patina over time. It evolves, changes color, and improves with use. Each piece becomes unique.

3. An incomparable natural scent

Vegetable-tanned leather gives off a sweet, warm scent reminiscent of the forest. It's nothing like the chemical odors of industrial leathers.

4. Kinder to skin and the environment

No chrome residue, solvents or heavy metals: vegetable leather is healthier for you and the planet.

5. The choice of craftsmen

This is the preferred leather of traditional leatherworkers. More demanding, but so much more rewarding to work with.
